My Paranormal Network

post-header

Tired of American paranormal themed television? How do you feel about New Zealand, Canada, or Australia then?

Wellington Paranormal

Airdate: Sundays at 9/8c

Creators: Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi

Writers: Jermaine Clement, Paul Yates, Melanie Bracewell, Coco Solid

Network: CW and HBOmax, originally TVNZ2

Cast: Karen O’Leary, Mike Minogue, Maaka Pohatu

What’s it about?: The creators of What We Do in the Shadows have duped the New Zealand Documentary Board in the best way once again. While it’s exciting we have an American version of the vampire classic, it’s nice to go back to Wellington to see how the city’s constables have been handling the rise in supernatural activities! While New Zealand is ahead one season and has renewed for a fourth, we have a lot to look forward to!

SurrealEstate

Airdate: Fridays at 10/9c

Creator: George Olson

Writers: George R. Olson, Ramona Barkert, Duana Taha, Gillian Müller

Network: SyFy, originally CTV

Cast: Tim Rozon, Sarah Levy, Adam Korson, Maurice Dean Wint

What’s it about?: Have you ever wondered what kind of real estate agent a guest on Dean Haglund’s podcast, Hellacious Renovations, might use? Well this Canadian gem has you covered. It must be difficult to get paranormal investigators to jump through all the hoops to become realtors…

Bureau of Magical Things

Airdate: Sunday nights in Australia, presumably Thursdays on Nickelodeon

Creator: Jonathan M. Schiff

Producers: Jonathan M. Schiff, Stuart Wood,

Network: Eleven (Australia), Nickelodeon soon (season 2)

Cast: Kimie Tsukakoshi, Elizabeth Cullen, Mia Milnes, Julian Cullen, Rainbow Wedell, Jamie Carter

What’s it about?: When we first heard of this Australian show, we were really hoping for something similar to Friday the 13th: The Series, but while there is a magical bookshop and a mystical library, what we have here is more of a Narnia/10th Kingdom situation complete with magic wands, faeries, and elves. Based on the Netflix numbers, people can’t wait to finally watch season two in the states!
